[01] about

Rakesh Patel and Skald

Rakesh Patel is CEO of Space-O Technologies, a software development and AI engineering company. He built Skald.

Skald began on Space-O's own small-business website. More people now ask an AI assistant before they find a business, so Rakesh wanted three plain answers: is ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity reading our pages, does it fetch them while answering someone, and do the people it cites click through?

The site's analytics could not tell him. Not because it was set up badly, but because a script tag only runs in a browser. So he built a tool that reads the one record that sees every visit: the server's own access log.

Skald has had more than 50 releases so far. It keeps two house rules: every new figure gets a second, independent count, and no file grows past 1,000 lines. He writes here about AI crawlers, AI referrals and what a server log can prove.
