What is the difference between the trial and the beta?
The trial: we set up your own hosted Skald, free for 30 days. The beta: you join the list for hosted Skald while it is in beta, and we contact you about it.
Do I need a card?
No. The 30-day trial needs no card.
How does hosted Skald get my traffic?
Hosted Skald cannot read a log file on your server, so your site sends it: a Vercel or Netlify log drain, Cloudflare Logpush or the Skald Worker, the small skald-ship shipper from your server, or the script tag (which sees people only, since bots run no script). We help you pick one.
Is self-hosting still free?
Yes. Skald is free to self-host under the Elastic License 2.0, for your own sites or your clients' sites.
